A few questions
Question
The first two questions I have are in terms of how your father paskens on a couple issues: 1. Since your father holds that most breads are kosher unless they contain a non-kosher ingredient (e.g. lard, animal fats, gevinas akum cheeses) or unless it was proven that the bread in question was for sure from the new grain, what about packaged breads with dairy ingredients? I've read in various Torah sources that bread is not to contain dairy ingredients unless the bread is made with an unusual shape or design and/or the bread is only enough for one day. So, what is Rabbi Abadi's p'sak when it comes to packaged breads containing dairy ingredients like milk and butter? (when the dairy ingredients in a bread are without a doubt make up more than 1/60th) Any problems with this for a diary or pareve meal/snack? I'm just trying to figure out what the actual straight halachah in terms of what defines bread as an unusual shape and/or the "must in eaten one day" criteria. Incidentally, I read somewhere that the main reason (not counting politics, chumros, etc..) why most of our hashgachos refuse to supervise/ certify breads with dairy ingredients in them (unless they're English Muffins or others that is enough for just one meal)is because of a time when the wife of a prominent rebbe had a meat meal and the wife accidentally used bread at that meal which clearly had dairy ingredients and had a diary hashgacha. So apparently, most of the hashgachos stopped considering kosher bread containing dairy items. 2. I saw in one Q&A that your father says it's OK to have a Shabbos/Yom Tov meal even if one hasn't davened Maariv yet. The person davened Minchah/Kabbolas Shabbos way before sunset, had their Shabbos evening seudah, and then at shkiah, he davened Maariv. So, given the fact it's not permitted to daven Maariv before shkiah, what's the earliest time one is allowed to say kiddush and/or start their seudah on a Friday night or Yom Tov evening? Do you know of the source where the practice comes from for the majority of the Torah world not to have their Shabbos/Yom Tov nightime seudah or Kiddush until after they've done all davening including Maariv? 3. Do you know at this point when the halachos (according to your father) for more aspects of daily Jewish living will be added to the halachah portion of the website? 4. When will more episodes from your (and Yitz Adler's) radio show be added to the radio section of the website? Again, I think it's a wonderful program, I consider it one of the best forms of verbal Torah learning I've ever heard, and I hope that if you decide to start it up again someday that you'll be able to do so on a station that will let you do so as you see fit without censorship. I cannot say enough just how wonderful a website this is. Keep up the good work.
Answer
Answered by Aaron AbadiHi Please limit the length of your questions. It's hard for me to read so much. 1) I forgot what he holds, but I'll ask him... 2) You do it every other night, why is Fri night different. 3) Maybe after Pesach 4) All this is because of time constraints. I run a company, I try to learn a bit, and I've been out of the country a lot. Hopefully soon we'll get this project more attention. AA
