Question

Yoreh Deah 374/6 the Ramah says "Whoever wants to be machmir, and take upon himself to mourn for someone of whom there is not an obligation to do so.... WE DO NOT STOP HIM. Rabbi Akivah Eiger explains, this is for things that are voluntary, such as not weaing shoes etc. but he is not allowed to refrain from studying Torah, nor from fulfillinf his marital obligations on the night his wife goes to the mikvah. Our disagreement on this point may be a disagreement between the Ashkenazim and sefardim.

Just looking at some Rama doesn't automatically give you a final position. Look at the Gemaras, Shulchan Aruch and the Mepharshim in a few places, Aruch Hashulchan. It is not an Ashkenaz/Sephard thing. CYA
