Why are you so quick to refer to the non-religious Israelis as mumrim whom we shouldn't be concerned about? They are being killed every day because they are Jewish. When Jews are in danger we must all join together and not be referring to people as mumrim. There will be other times for this. Also many of us have family members who are not religious. We still love them.

Answered by Aaron AbadiThis is an "Halachic" site. You can get a liberal site by typing the word "Liberal" on any search engine. If a non-religious Jew is not a "Mumar," who is? Isn't that the meaning of the term. I also have non-religious relatives. But it does say in Shulchan Aruch that if one has a close relative who dies and would normally be required to sit Shiva for them, if they were not religious, they may not sit Shiva for this non-religious relative. This is in Yoreh Deah Siman #345 Seif #5. It continues to say that the relatives should dress up, eat, drink, and be merry, because as the Shach explains "BaAvod Reshaim Rinah." I'm not writing this out of hatred for them, but rather out of love for every Jew. I love them & I want them to come back, follow the simple rules, and join us all in Heaven. Someone created this world and gave us a set of rules. If we ignore it, we'll pay. There is no benefit to be nice to people and allow them to self destruct. AA
