Question
I - I have an electric spaced heater in my daughters (18 months old) bedroom that I keep on over shabbot, when she's up she turns it off without being asked - and indeed I'd rather it be off during the day - do I need to prevent her from turning it off (and end up making a game out of it)? II. During the week I took my daughter out for a walk and found that she can easily walk ten blocks on her own - Can I take her out on shabbot for a comparable distance (this is in flatbush?) and is there anything to do if she decides to quit in the middle? III. I have a hot plate that I use to keep cooked food hot from erev shabbot through friday night - I found that if I keep a challah on it for an hour it will start to burn - am I to assume that this hot plate gets too hot to use to rewarm food on shabbot if I were to use a timer to turn it back on Sat. morn? IV - any progress with mezuzot? Best regards, heshy
Answer
Answered by Aaron Abadi1) Let her do what she wants. 2) Let her walk. If she chickens out halfway, you can have her carried by a non-Jew, or pull her and force her to walk. She'll walk, but she won't talk to you for a week. 3) Hard to say. Try putting kugel on it for an hour and stick a food thermometer in and see if less than 125 degrees. 4) Sefer Torahs almost done. Mezuzot are much more complicated, because they need to be done line by line from right to left. AA
