Beavers in Soda

Re. castorium which is from beavers and supposedly can be put in soda, from your reaction it is clear that you don't take this seriously. Is this because you don't believe such a thing exists (a question of metziut which should be easy to determine) or is it because even if this sort of thing was put in the soda, it doesn't have halakhic significance and wouldn't affect the kashrut status of the soda?
