Beech Nut Baby Food
Question
1) I noticed that Beech Nut baby food stage 2 sweet potatoes, sweet peas, sweet corn, etc. are on your list for Pesach although they only have an OU not an OU-P. Your list also indicates that all baby food vegetables are ok "with the following ingredients only; vegetables, water, citric acid, &/or ascorbic acid". I have repeatedly tried to get the OU to answer if these are fine for Pesach but they never respond. Are these ok for Pesach even without the special OU-P, and why? 2) Also, the JSOR indicates that soy milks are problematic due grain alcohol in their manufacture. Can you tell me anytrhing about this? 3) Finally, the JSOR indicates that Beech Nut baby rice cereal is problematic because of chametzdik equipment according to the OU. Can you tell me any more about this? Thanks.
Answer
Answered by Aaron Abadi1) The Ou and OK and many others are just businesses. If they don't get paid, they will not tell you something is OK. You do not need a Hashgachah to tell you if something is good for Pesach. Additionally, babies should not worry about Kitniyot. If a baby changes his/her diet because of unnecessary Pesach obsessions, it can affect it's health. 2) If it is not in the ingredients, it does not exist. see our FAQ's. (and don't be so naive). 3) Same as 1 & 2 (and don't be so naive). AA
