brilliant chinuch

Question

Thought AA would get a kick out of this. Eating dinner at my house when my little brother starts saying his chumash homework to me. Of course hes saying it in yiddish (god's chosen language) which i dont understand very well. I nod along with him until hes done giving him the encouragement he needs. As hes finishing, i ask him if he knows the meaning of the words he is saying. He tells me of course he does so i ask him a specific word (vayikach) and he answers me in yiddish. I ask him what it means in english and he has no idea. i dont know yiddish, my parents like to think they know yiddish, but my little second grade brother definitely does not know yiddish. For the past two years he has learned absolutely nothing because of these chinuch geniuses who have decided that it is better for a child to be able to repeat hebrew in yiddish rather then know what the words mean. Congratulations! they have succeeded in starting the next generation of ignorant, uneducated fools on their path of futility. But look at the bright side. Just two more years till they start gemarah. Translated into Swahili of course for better clarification. Working off a solid foundation of chumash which they don't understand. (yes i live in lakewood, home of terrific decisions).
