What are the halakhot regarding checking for bugs in fruit and vegetables? Years ago, before we had insecticide, one never heard about the need to carefully check all vegetables, to soak them in vinegar and dishwashing detergent etc. According to some rabbis, asparagus, strawberries, and other fruits and vegetables are now forbidden because uf the supposed infestation..
