Question

Rabbi, I have seen you write many times regarding Chalav Yisroel milk. Can you please explain exactly what is meant by this? Is this the only kind of milk kosher? Is all milk in this country Chalav Yisroel? I'm lost! Thank you!

All milk sold in the U.S. and in all civilized countries are considered 100% Chalav Yisrael. The requirement for milk is that we must be sure the milk is cow's milk and not from a pig or a donkey. There are a thousand reasons why we can be sure of that. The most resounding one is that if the milk company was caught putting 2 OZ of pig's milk into the milk, it will hit the papers and he will lose his entire business. The Chalav Yisrael fad is not based on Halachah. AA
