Chanuka / Gift Giving Revisited

Question

B'chvod HaRav, I find I'm just not getting an answer I can understand. When you say that all of our Yomim Tovim involved gift - giving, I assume you mean Regalim where the mitzvah of Simchas Yom Tov is for each Baal Habayis to give gifts to his wife & children, or Purim where we have Mishloach Manos & Matanos L'Evyonim. My Q. is: isn't it really the case that these holidays REQUIRE gift-giving because doing so is an integral part of either the Kedushas Hayom or the Mitzvos Hayom? Furthermore I don't see where "all" of our holidays involve gift-giving, e.g... Yom Kippur? Tu-B'Shvat? Tisha-B'Av? The minor fast-days or Pesach Sheni? It would seem to me that just as many hundreds of years ago even the Gentile purists did not view their "EID" as a gift-giving time, so too we Yiddin, of old, never connected anything of this sort to Chanukah (other than Chanukah gelt - which relates directly to our ancient custom of playing Dreidel) until we learned of this practice from our Gentile neighbors -- AND it is practised by them as an enhancement of their Ma'assey A"Z. So again, I just don't understand why our practice of "gifting" on Chanuka isn't a classic case of "Chukas Hagoy". It's very genesis seems to stem from their holiday and what possible "Kiyyum" of Chanukah (and please don't say "Ahavas Rayim!") can halachically be construed here.
