Charif foods

Question

Dear Rav, A confusing area. Is this correct? 1) A lemon, that is cut with a knife that you know for sure has been used in the last 24 hours to cut hot dairy, cannot be cooked with, or even squeezed onto a piece of chicken, but can be squeezed onto a salad that is on the same plate as the chicken? 2) Is it possible for the lemon, or other sharp food, to draw out the taste of a knife used for meat, dairy, or treif, even if it has been NOT been used in the last 24 hours( I was taught this and it appears to be in R.Forst`s Laws of Kashrut Book, which is in many a Shul library, and often the first and only source for answers. This book does not permit grape juice batel 1/6, for example, based on the Rambam) 3) In all cases, if there is the slightest doubt( of it being used with dairy, meat or treif), you can use the lemon with anything? Many, many thanks, Martin

A lemon or onion have the same Halacha. 1. No. It cannot be eaten with the chicken in the same plate, but before or after it can be eaten. The point being it should be a separate dish not to be eaten along with the chicken. This does not mean that you eat them separately at the same time, but before or after. 2. If the knife was used for kli rishon meat/milk within last 24 hours (for Sephardim or ever used for kli rishon meat/milk, for Ashmenazim) then you would follow #1 in reference to the grape juice issue, my father siad he is not familiar with such a Rambam. Please advise us the source. Thanx 3. No comprende CYA
