checking ingredients
Question
My understanding from reading this site has always been that since (a) the FDA standards are so stringent and (b) manufacturers fear lawsuits, we can base kashrut on a reading/understanding of the listed ingredients. In recent posts you OK'd Spanish Capers produced for a Canadian distributor and canned bamboo shoots/baby corn produced in Asia (no specific country was given). I often shop in various "ethnic" grocery stores and often wonder if I can truly trust ingredients listed by foreign manufacturers. Often a package will have only foreign languages (Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, etc.) with a small sticker listing the ingredients in English. Are we comfortable that the FDA/lawsuit standards reach these foreign manufacturers marketing to an almost exclusively foreign clientele here in the US?

Answered by Aaron AbadiCertain products can be bought in Iraq too, since there is no possibility nor a benefit to put non-KOsher in that product. Bamboo Chutes? Baby Corn? What are you afraid is in there? AA
