what is the rabbis opinion - does one need to check the rice for pesah? if not how did the "custom" begin? is it considered a custom that one can not batel?

Answered by Aaron AbadiNo need to check rice that comes packaged in the supermarket. The checking was done in the places where you bought your rice from a big pail right next to the wheat and the barley. You needed to make sure that your rice did not contain wheat or barley. There is logic to what we do. Nowadays it is not needed and thus not required. AA
