chocolate bars

Question

Rabbi, When I go to the candy store and pick up a chocolate bar which I have not checked for Kashrut, is there even a need to read the ingrediants? I have never heard of a candy bar containing any sort of meat or cheese. I have seen chocolates filled with liqour (wine?) but if theres any sort of alcohol content, the candy wouldnt be able to sit on the shelve with the others for children to pick up. Basically what Im asking is, if its something so obviously kosher, at what point do we need to use common sense and not check?

There is no way to eat anything, without knowing what is in it. Halacha gives us many ways to identify or qualify what is in a food. Ingredients is one of those ways. You still need to check to make sure it is kosher. (I do not believe that you can say for sure that every chocolate bar is kosher - but I have not done the research) CYA
