Coffee on Shabbat

Question

I read a posting saying simply that you could hook a coffee maker to a timer for use on Shabbat. If the coffee maker has a heating element, can you remove the coffee pot, pour a cup and return it to the element? Is there any permitted ways of making a DECENT cup of coffee (non-instant) on Shabbat????

You can't return the coffee pot to the coffee maker, but my suggestion is to then put the coffee pot on the "Blech." AA
