Covering Hair

Question

I have a question regarding hair covering - I understand everything that you are saying regarding why it is permissible to wear a wig and not only a hat etc. I also understand that Ashkenazim and Sephardim have very different customs that have translated into laws over the years - one of them being head coverings. In Israel, you have an Ashkenazi who find it not tzniut to wear a hat - but a Sephardic Woman who will not leave her house with a wig. I'll leave names out, but one of the Great Rabbi's (Sephardic) of this generation writes in one of his books that even a tzadeket, will have to pass through Gehenom if she wears a wig. That is a pretty strong statement regarding wigs. What is one supposed to do with such a statement. If we go by the fact that we are supposed to believe in our Chachamim (obviously we have to be careful who is a chacham and who isn't' but I'd venture out to say this is definitely a Chacham) -shouldn't our Yirat Shamayim lead us to believe that if this is what a Chacham says, than this is what we do?? When do we draw the line at making our own conclusions? Obviously one never finds a Rav that they agree with 100%...that's why we just have to choose one and go with everything they say otherwise we could be our own Rabbi's? Thanks, Vicky
