cutting hair at three.
Question
Dear Rabbi, thank you for this site. could you please explain why you may not cut a boys hair until he is three. Someone once told me it had something to do with not taking fuit from a tree for three years. I did not understand the correlation to a baby boy and i am hoping you wouldn't mind explaining it to me. -Also why the party and why does everyone have to cut a piece of his hair? thank you for your time
Answer
Answered by Aaron AbadiThere is no such Halachah. As for the concept of Minhag, we only follow what was Minhag Kadmonim; which is a Minhag that was from the earlier sources, based on something substantial. Unfortunately, many of what people term Minhag today, came from the Goyim around us... I do not know the source for haircuts at 3 years old, and I don't believe that it is in Shulchan Aruch. AA
