what is the halachic opinion on the death penalty being administered in the united states(with explanation if possible)?thank you

Answered by Aaron AbadiA wonderful thing. All countries are required by God to maintain laws & regulations, punishments and general order. This has been the Law determined in the U.S. and that is fulfilling a basic requirement. Now, can it be done without the death penalty? Maybe? Right now our society is not safe enough and morals are at an all time low. I would be more comfortable with swifter and severe punishment toward violent heinous crimes, and a little more breathing room on those parking tickets. AA
