debt and Tzedaka

Question

Is one obligated to give Tzedaka while having a hefty school debt? Or may one pay off his school debt first and then start giving Tzedaka? Thanks

The school debt is not Tzedaka if it is a required tuition. You can give your Tzedaka to a cause that your friend wants to give to and your friend should give to your school. Then it does work. AA
