Dishwasher on Shabbat

Question

I have a dishwasher that can be put on a timer. HOwever, the timer does not start counting the delayed time unless the dishwasher is fully closed. Every time you open it, the timer shuts off and when you close it again, the timer resumes. So you are definitely controlling the mechanism. Can I use it on shabbat even though I will have to close it on Shabbat and it will be directly affecting the machine? Thank you.
