electric wheelchairs on shabbos

Question

What conditions are important if a child is older than bar or bat mitzvah and must use the wheelchair? Ther is a strong emotional component to restricting the childs movement on Shabbos. There is also the discomfort of using another chair on Shabbos.Thank you!

My father does not have any way to use an electric wheelchair on Shabbos. CYA
