If your Rav decided against the Shulchan Aruch and over half the Rishonim that our streets are absolutely not a "reshut harabim," then you can carry in the Eiruv without any issues. I assume that this Rav is of the caliber that can make such a determination. If however, your Rav is just following the norm..... the Halachah seems to be against Eiruvim the way they are made with strings around areas that include public streets. This means that the opinions that forbid carrying would consider this Chilul Shabbat on a pure De'Orayta level. This is serious! The Rabbis should be telling their people the truth. We are so busy being extra strict on silly things, but a Melachah De'Orayta on Shabbat is no big deal. The Rabbanim today have not taken on themselves the decision between the different Rishonim. They just follow the status quo. Many even say straight out, "we have had Eiruvim for years." Well who authorized them? Our own society shows that in any town, city, or village, all you need is one Rabbi or semi-Rabbi to put up an Eiruv and there's an Eiruv. This does not mean that it has been approved by all. In any case, even if it is OK to rely on the Eiruv, it certainly would be strange to do all these barely important Chumrot and yet carry in the Eiruv. AA
