Question
In the FAQ it states that if you are not sure who owns a store, you don't need to ask, and can buy its products after Pesah. But since it is very easy to ask, why don't we say you should do this? After all, you might find out that it's a Jew who isn't religious and thus didn't sell his chametz.

Answered by Aaron AbadiIt's easy to ask whom? The owner? Will he tell you the truth? The local Hashgacha? Will they tell you the truth? Is it really easy to confirm who really owns a store legally? You need an attorney to look into it. Then when you find the name of the owner, even if it's McMahon, you still need to check if his mother, or her mother, or anyone up the ladder was Jewish. The same would apply if the owner's name was Goldstien. His mother could be Irish. Don't be ridiculous! AA
