Father/Shower/Shabbos

Re: the person with a father who wouldn't let her shower on shabbos... Our of curiosity, why didn't you advise this person to honor her father, and respect his preferences. Yes, technically, he's wrong to say showers are osur, but does he not have the right to determine the behaviors that go on inside his house. Theoretically, couldn't the father say "showers are mutar, but I don't think it's a nice thing to do on shabbos." If the father said those words, would you advise the daughter to sneak around? Wondering...

Answered by Aaron AbadiIf she needs a shower, how would it be an honor to him for her to walk around smelling. Honor your fatgher doesn't mean listen to everything he says. Besides, you obviously haven't been around the block. This person will just get alienated from the excess restrictions. So sneak a shower, big deal! AA
