following a rav
Question
I have followed your website now for a while, and see your consistancy with keeping to one rav. You always say that to follow a rav means to follow everything he says, and not to go rabbi hopping. (otherwise your bound to run into contradictions) I was just curious to know what your father holds regarding shaving, and not going to baseball games, and not listening to music (ever). And if I am correct in assuming he does not hold of any of these, then is someone who shaves.... not considered a true follower?!
Answer
Answered by Chaim Yisrael AbadiMy father holds that all shavers are the same. I used to shave and my brothers shave. A person should not go to baseball games. A person can listen to music, if it is to change a mood or for other reasons. Do a search on the site and you will see different examples of these issues, discussed. While you are on the subject of shaving and listening to a Rov, those of you who your husbands do not let you wear a wig, Rav Elyashav holds you cannot use ANY shaver. Lets see what he says now. A person has to follow one Rov all the way, L'heter and L'issur. CYA
