forgetting to light for shabbat

Question

Dear Rabbi, In regard to the post by Mark, where he asked what to do being that his wife forgot to light the candles before sundown, I have a question. I remember learning in school that if a women forgets to light then the following week and weeks after that she adds on one candle in addition to her regular amount of lights. So my question is: does she do n/th the following week or does she light an additonal candle? Clarification will be greatly appreciated and Thank You!
