Gelatin

Could you please explain why gelatin is acceptable from an halachic perspective. Further, is cochineal extract permitted? Thank you

Answered by Aaron AbadiBones &/or skin of an animal are permitted, even from a non-Kosher animal. In addition, the Gelatin today is rendered inedible prior to being processed. cochineal extract is fine, because it's not edible & it's Noten Taam Lifgam to those of us that don't really enjoy Beetle Juice.
