Question
A friend linked me to your site and asked my opinion because I have been studying yorah deyah for many years and I have worked for kashrut organizations. I think your answers are always flippant and frequently wrong. You should save yourself the ime and effort and close down, rather than mislead the masses. Why would you tell the guy who wants to know if all yogurt is kosher to "read the ingredients" when the simple answer is "no?" Can your average reader be expected to be able to distinguish traife in the ingredients? Why would you imply that we use two sets of silverware for fun? It is NOT ok to use the silverware in a trief restaurant. A utensil, especially a spoon which is frequently used hot, can easily be a kli rishon and can be traife. Certainly so if it isnt perfectly clean. And it is not so simple to say that you can kasher a deep fryer back to parve -- that is not the kind of parve to which most people refer. We don't kasher keilim from milchig to fleishig (unless we are kashering for pesach). If something is fleishig and you kasher it, it can no longer be used for milchig or fleishig. Your answer, and even your clarification, left this very unclear. Why on earth would you be counseling innocent people to eat "what they can" in non-kosher restaurants? Are they supposed to know "what they can?" How many people have eaten traife because you said this? Kashrus is complex stuff - this is not an issue of "lo sosifu." I encourage all of your readers to direct all of their questions to a competent orthodox rabbi, local and in person.
