gum-davening

Question

Is one allowed to chew gum during davening? what about a Halls sore throat candy, if he has a very sore throat and it will help him concentrate? thanx

During Shemona Esreh (Amida) absolutely not. Chewing gum is very disrespectful in Shul. The Halls has some merit if used during some parts, but how can you say any prayers with a candy in your mouth. AA
