HASHGACHAS NOT LABLES

Question

The following is from a recent OU alert: Brand: Soy Dream Product: Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert-Strawberry Swirl (quart size) Issue: Product status has changed from Parve to Dairy. New product can be identified by OUD, while product labeled OU (without a suffix) is Parve. Consumers should carefully check packaging of all food purchases for changes in Kosher certification. Now imagine, if we relied on the AA and not the OU. Suppose someone had asked about Soy Milk, back before the chang. You would have said kosher Parve. And instead of checking the packaging, your legions of followers would have continued to beleive that the Soy Milk was parve _even after the status had changed to dairy_ This is why the hashgacha is so important. Jews should rely on hashgachas (and the expert mashgichim behind them, who know when a product's status has been changed) and not on brand names, or ingredeant lables. Don't you agree?

People! You can go to their website to the following link & you will see the info below. Some people were just trained to be arrogant and they spend their lives studying Torah in order to justify their lifestyle. They do not get much satisfaction from their studies, but rather they grow more bitter each year. Their souls cannot be sustained by the Mitzvot that they do, since they are not done for the right reasons, nor are they done properly. Soy Dream is still non-dairy. Any possible dairy would be insignificant in Jewish Law. The disclaimer about Dairy was directed to people with allergies, and thus to avoid a lawsuit. In Jewish Law these products are Kosher Pareve. OU policy is not always in line with Jewish Law. At times it is stricter, and at times it is more lenient. Strangely enough, the OU has more recalls of their mistakes on products that they certify incorrectly than we can even imagine. Besides, if fromn a Halachic standpoint a product is OK, the people may eat it until we notify them of a change in status. Anyone who knows anything about Jewish Law would know this basic rule. I sincerely wish that this person who posted the above attack and those hundreds of thousands misled robots should be able to find the Truth and actually get the control of their soul back in their own hands. Until then....ignore them! AA ------------------------------- http://www.imaginefoods.com/pages/info/dairyfree.php A word about Soy Dream Frozen Desserts and Rice Dream Frozen Desserts (Pints & Quarts), Soy Dream Frozen Bars & Pies and Rice Dream Bars & Pies: Our Soy Dream and Rice Dream Frozen Dessert products are free of dairy ingredients; however, a number of our flavors contain added chocolate or carob coatings, chips, chocolate-coated almonds or peanuts which are processed on shared-equipment with dairy ingredients and may contain trace amounts of dairy. Since we cannot make these carob and chocolate coating products ourselves, we purchase them from a very reputable, California based, natural ingredients supplier. Like most confection companies, their manufacturing facility for chocolate and carob products includes the production of milk chocolate products. Due to the nature of chocolate manufacturing and cleanup, it is impossible to absolutely guarantee 100% that no trace amount of dairy ingredients is present when non-dairy chocolate formulations are produced. No dairy ingredients of any kind are added to their formulas for any non-dairy chocolate or carob product that they make for us, or sell themselves. Each batch of chocolate or carob is lab tested to detect the presence of trace amounts of dairy by the manufacturer. If the chocolate or carob has more than 0.5% which is the maximum level allowed, the chocolate/carob is rejected. The manufacturer can only "guarantee" the products not to contain more than 0.5% dairy. Since the carob and chocolate represents only one ingredient in our frozen desserts, if there were to be any trace of dairy in the product below 0.5%, it would be in Rice Dream and Soy Dream Frozen Desserts at a parts per million level.
