Hat & Jacket

Question

I daven by Rabbi Schiffenbauer's shul in the Marine Park section of Brooklyn. The Rabbi says that it's better to daven at home with a hat and jacket than in shul with a miyan sans hat and jacket. Is this true?

Obviously there are different strokes for different folks. If he's your Rabbi, you gotta follow him. My father does not hold that way. CYA
