John needs to realize that regardless of whether or not hechsher organizations are appropriate, the "kosher tax" business is completely unfounded. The nazis claim that they are being forced to pay more for food with a hecsher and that its a big jewish conspiracy to siphon money. The fault in their logic is that a hechsher is not a tax. It's more akin to direct advertisement to a specific group. No company is forced to get a hechsher, they get it if they feel it will help them sell more of their product, just as a company will pay for any other type of ad. While we need to rethink our approach to eating kosher food, we certainly don't need to be apologizing to any nazis.
