Hot Tub
Question
One of the people I am working with has a very big hot tub/jacuzzi in the bathroom. Is there a way I can measure to ensure if it holds enough water to be kosher. I realize this isn't something that we want everyone doing, but when dealing with baalei teshuvah, I think we have to look for every such way to make things easier, at least at first, so that they can have a kosher home. God willing, their children will be able to go to the regular mikvah.

The impression we are possibly giving, is that a big enough jacuzzi (or a pool for that matter) will be good. That isn't automatically the case. Obviously, the ideal situation would be if the Mikva ladies would not ask all the embarrassing questions that are asked. Ideally, the lady goes down, then the Mikva lady comes out and watches the hair go under. and, THAT is the whole deal. Why stress people out for no reason. If a lady comes to the Mikva and says please drive me crazy with all the craziness. Then by all means go right ahead. I hate to beat a dead horse, but is every person supposed to follow the Mikva lady's rov or the Mikva's Rov? Every person has their own Rov. Does the water in the Mikva become unkosher because a lady went in unharrassed? Is it better that some women don't go at all? Maybe that is the feelings of those Mikva Rabbonim. Either do it our way or the highway. Sounds like the Mafia. In Lakewood, they don't allow other Mikvaos, except those approved by the Mafia. They may know Mikvaos. Soooo, where is it said that people who live too far should wait till Motzei Shabbos? Why does it become a political mess? Why when some people wanted to make a Mikva on the other side of town, they were harrassed and finally threw in the towel? CYA
