Hot Water

Question

In my office theres a tap on the sink for boiling hot water. We always use it for hot cocoa, soup, oatmeal, etc. However some other frum ppl in the office said not to use it because the non-jewish co workers use it for their non kosher hot soups and maybe the steam goes up to the faucet....?! Does this make sense?

It is ok to use that water - the steam that comes up is the water that is coming out of the tap. Once it hits the food, it becomes a kli sheni and the steam at that point is without question no problem. (there are cases when steam can be a problem, but they are pretty rare). If the issue was mentioned because there is some food particles on the tap, then obviously it should be cleaned for germs purposes. CYA
