A friend told me that there are many ingredients which we don't really know where they come from and may well not be kosher, and therefore one should rely on hashgachoth. Plesae elaborate your position on this. -B Lemkin

Answered by Chaim Yisrael AbadiMost of that statement is a smoke screen for the Hashgacha's need to make money. According to Reb Moshe Feinstein you can depend on a letter from the company and or the ingredient panel, because they will be afraid to lie. In the days of the Gemara, the people went to Gentile places to eat or buy food. That what was done in US till some time ago when some people needed a parnassa and came up with a new idea. If you have time, you can ask them for some examples. Then we can show you what we mean. CYA
