Ingredients

Question

Dear Rabbis, I have two question related to the issue of relying on ingredients: 1) I know that we can rely on the ingredients on foods produced in the USA because the FDA monitors them. What about in Canada, British Columbia, etc.? 2) CYA mentioned that one should only purchase rice for pesach that are printed on the list. Why can't we simply check ingredients on the rice packages, regardless of brand?

1) It's not just the FDA. If a company doesn't mention wheat, milk, peanuts, and other allergy prone ingredients on the label, and the product does contain any of those items, the lawsuits that they will face can easily bankrupt the company. 2) I'm all for it. AA
