Question

I have been learning Yoreh Deah and have a question. How do we know that some of the chemical sounding items in the ingredients don't contain some sype of animal extracts. I realize that they are no doubt very small, but I wonder, perhaps they are davar she-maamid. Why isn't this a concern?
