ketchup

Question

I saw at a local yeshiva that they designated seperate ketchups for dairy and meat. When I asked why they said because they're afraid that little kids will take the ketchup and put it directly on the food and then the ketchup will become meat and then someone will use it for milk. Is this really a problem?If not, please explain. Thank you.
