Kiddush

Question

You wrote that everyone must drink wine at kiddush. I have never heard of this before. Isn't it enough for just the rabbi to drink the wine? That's how it is in every shul

My Father writes in Ohr Yitzhak Orach Chaim #96 that a person should drink from a Hagefen after they hear Kiddush from the Chazan. CYA
