Maariv

Question

We daven Mincha in our community so that we finish before sundown. What would be the earliest we could daven Maariv and not have to say Kriat Sshma again?

In the U.S., about 45 minutes after sundown. But why not do Maariv/Arbit right away and say over Shema? It's a lot easier than regrouping. AA
