The Ramba"m says that any painting or coloring is not allowed on Shabbat. If it stays longer, it is even De'oraita (from the Torah). The movement toward allowing it in certain communities and this whole Shabbos Make-up industry, is just an attempt to accomodate the will of the people. Halachah is not that way. We need to follow Jewish law, even when it is not so easy. If not, then we are not really following anything. Rather just getting a stamp of approval on anything we feel we need. AA
