Mezuzah

Does the mezuzah on my front door need to be checked twice every seven years? (is that the same as every 3/ 1/2 years)?

Answered by Rabbi AbadiIf it is outdoors, and it has an outdoor case that protects it from the weather, then it does not need to be checked for a long time. Indoor ones would have the same rule. I, however, it was an outdoor one without any protection, it would need to be checked much more often than 3 1/2 years. So then what was the Shulhan Arukh talking about when he said to do it every 3 1/2 years?
