Miami

Question

Miami isn't taref. Some of the things that people do when they come to Miami are taref. LA is not taref either. Both cities are like every other Jewish community in the world, full of tzaddikim and sinners and everyone else in between. Both are home to sizable Shomer Shabbat communities as well as yeshivot, kollelim, mikvoth, kosher groceries and dining and numerous chesed organizations. We are fortunate to be blessed to live in a pleasant place that many of the world's great Rabbeim visit. As a smaller community we have the advantage in that anyone who wishes can go and learn and seek advice from many of the worlds greatest Sages,at a time when these great Rabbis are themselves more relaxed and accessible. If people from out of town come to Miami and see the uncivilized in South Beach walking around naked and partying in the clubs and feel compelled to join in, I think that is more of a reflection on the homes and communities that they come from rather than the city they are visiting.
