Question
My wife wanted to feed the baby at the Seder table and my mother-in-law said she could not do it there, since the bottle was dairy. I said that I was sure that breast milk is not dairy and that she could stay at the table and feed the baby. Am I correct?

Answered by Aaron AbadiThat was a good one! Yes! You were right, but don't pick a fight with your mother-in-law, unless you have enough food at home. The Pasuk says, "Lo Tevashel Gedi Bachalev Imo." A kosher animal with a kosher animal's milk is the Issur. Actual cooking a woman's milk with meat is prohibitted, however, Midrabanan, because people may think it's cow's milk. Not allowing a bottle by the table is certainly taking the issue to an extreme. You can look it up in Shulchan Aruch Yoreh De'ah #87 Seif #3 & #4 Aaron Abadi
