Question

Just a point of clarification: If one must follow their Rav even on minhagim, then the Abadi family is "Ashkenazic" from the kitniyot perspective, since Rabbi Abadi's rav was Rav Aharon Kotler! It follows then that all of his talmidim should NOT be allowed to consume kitniyot either. Is this correct? Also, can you provide some sources for researching Rav Abadi's position on minhagim (i.e., that we should follow our Rav in this matter)? It is certainly absurd to think that all of a sudden we should begin worrying about our great-great grandfather's customs when, in the old days, people just followed their community minhag. How does everyone think Ashkenazim became Ashkenazim? (Hint: they lived in a specific region in Europe)

But Rav Aaron, Rebbi was Rav ..., his Rebbi was Rav..., ........and on and on ...all the way up to Moshe Rabbeinu. This Rav was born in Egypt, and spent 40 years or so as a king in Africa. (Believe it or not) Part of following is not worrying about the sources until of course you've learned it all already, and are just missing these few items.... AA
