Moving to Israel & Moshiach
Question
Dear Rabbi, In regard to everything that is going on in the "media" world right now - in Israel, America and with Osama bin Laden - do you think that really in the end that everyone in Israel will be the only safe people and that the Jewish Americans are foolish for not picking up immediately and leaving for Israel? Do you think that all that is happening is simply Hashem trying to tell us that the time to do Teshuva is now and the time is passing and if we don't take the hint internalize it and act upon it, then we will be left here in America, just like the Jews of Germany that were so complacent in their lives and never thought what happened could happen? What if we are unable to just pick up and move to Israel at this moment? I am not trying to ask a ridiculous question, it just makes me extremely nervous and scared when I see everything that is happening, everywhere, and how not only are people dying every minute in Israel, but #1 - that we are not there with them, and #2 - that really they are much safer than we are here and no matter how much and many mitzvot we do and try to get others to do, it may not be enough because Hashem is probably so fed up with all of our behaviors. I want and try to be a true eved/ovedet Hashem, both out of love and fear for Hashem, and try to balance the two appropriately but what if what we are doing is not enough? (?) Thank you.
