mushroom's bracha?
Question
Rabbi AA, I am questioning (respectfully) why you have mushrooms as haadamah and not Shehakol.. The Gemarah in brachot 40b says that it is shehakol as does the shulchan aruch in Orech chaim 204:1. Are you disagreeing with the identification of kmaihin and pitriot? Are you stating that the shulchan aruch does not accept abaye's emendation of the braitah - al davar sheain yonek min haaretz? and since you see them growing from the ground and that is the lashon of the mechaber you are disagreeing with the magen avrohom and mishna brurah? I have looked in the Ohr Yitzchak #60 and #61 and see no mention of these possibilities.. Can I assume then that you are a quiche-eater in the Bruce Feirstein sense of the word, and that you wish to make a more manly bracha than the norm, and have subconsciously erred to justify your quiche eating ways? What are the correct berachos for the following: 1. Mushrooms 2.Quiche (tuna/mushroom)- or any pie- inside shehakol but has a crust 3.Salad with croutons or tuna 4.Soup with vegetables or noodles or croutons Do you have to make 2 brachos on any of these? Thank you!
Answer
Answered by Aaron Abadi1) Ha'Adamah 2) Usually Mezonot, unless barely any pie crust. 3) Ha'Adamah 4) w/veg= Haadamah; w/n or c = Mezonot If it is eaten together as one, as the cases above, you can only make 1 Blessing. If you make a second one, it will be in vain. AA
