Natural Flavorings
Question
Rabbi, I recently cooked a bag of frozen vegetables, and it smelled a lot like chicken. I took a closer look at the bag, and saw that it was more than just vegetables. It also had: Maltodextrin, Salt, Cornstarch, Powdered Soy Sauce, Sugar, Caramel Color, Natural Flavorings and spices. The "Natural Flavorings" part worried me. I went on to the FDA's site and looked at this link: http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~lrd/CF101-22.HTML It CLEARLY states that natural flavors can be of vegetable or animal source. And yet you say that this is OK. I'm confused. Please clarify.
Answer
Answered by Aaron Abadiif there was real chicken, they would tell you. Chicken flavor is more effective, lasts longer, less expensive, and better tasting. Kosher Pareve. Enjoy. AA
