::Now things are getting interesting. Why is reading a newspaper on the toilet OK?

You can't learn there CYA:: So are you saying that anytime you are prohibited from learning on Shabbos, you are permitted to engage in non-Torah items? Doesn't Shabbos still exist in the bathroom, even though you cannot learn there?
