non-Kosher pots

Question

I explained the 24 hour principle to some (kosher-observant) people. I also explained that they have an obligation to kasher THEIR own pots if they become treif. So they ask if when they go visit non-kosher family can they use the pots, plates and cutlery if they haven't been used in 24 hours? Or if the non-kosher relatives say "Here. We cooked the food in these pots." Assuming there is no tevila issue (china or porcelain, or the food is already cooked), may they use the plates and stuff and eat the food?

A person cannot use an unkosher pot whether it is more or less than 24 hours. If it was used and it was less than 24 hours, then it can be a problem. It would depend on the specific situation. If they said they cooked this food in the pots and you know the ingredients were all kosher, then you can eat it because it is considered eino ben yoimo unless they say otherwise. CYA
